PollDaddy: Survey on Wrongdoing & Goodwill by Religious People

indi's picture

I am conducting polls here to see how people think of the cause of wrongdoing/goodwill acts by religious people. Have a go!

The first one:

The second one:

Why do I have this poll?

It's based on a simple day-to-day observation in this world we live in but yet it is such a hard issue to comprehend. Here is how I have heard it many times (in Eastern and Western world):

-A person of religion X will say this when a person of another religion committed a crime: "No wonder... He's not an X that's why he does such a crime!"

-A person of religion X will say this when a person of another religion performed a goodwill: "Wow! He must be a person of good character!"

-A person of religion X will say this when a person of same religion performed a goodwill: "That's expected! You are a good person because you are an X!"

-A person of religion X will say this when a person of same religion committed a crime: "He is a bad person. Our religion never approves his action. His actions is the result of his personality and character!"

See where I am getting at? I hope you do.

Religion is merely a

Religion is merely a foundation of one's belief and faith. A person's character and personality is defined since birth where RELIGION is still unknown. An extremist will definitely produce a different opinion. Whether a person performs a goodwill or wrongdoing, it is essential to justify the fact not judge by his/her religion. Afterall we are all just human being (not angels), our actions and doings are our responsibility.

What drive's us

I entirely agree to the previous comment. Religion is true to be a foundation of one's belief and faith. The difference is whom-what-how to belief and merge of all those, is how to comprehend into faith. Then continue by how we perform and act.
But, have we realized that basically we all have an option? To whom do we trust, to what do we believe, and how do we comprehend..my opinion...life is about options. It is not then being right or wrong (depends on who's judgement) but it's truelly only...do or not.
Needs, motivation, ideas, actions...are entirely options...and this.. by all mean differs you from others.
Only 2 conditions that gives you no options...being 'made' and being 'dead'.
